Hello All!

Hey All young delgates to XVI IAC!

I am a primary care physician from India. I am on the Youth Advisory Committee and welcome you all on the Youth Website for the XVI International AIDS Conference! This discussion board section will be a place for you to raise your questions and concerns for your participation in the conference.

You can ask questions about how to get the most benefits by attending the conference, what sections might be of interest to you and where you could learn and get networking opportunities.

You can also introduce yourselves and share information about your interests with your peers from across the world who are gearing up to participate. You can contact each other and start networking even before the conference with formal introduction so when you get to the conference venue, you can sail straight into the business!

Believe me, it would be wonderful to meet someone in person with whom you have talked online before. Discussion board on the youth site gives you this opportunity to get the most out of your time and efforts.

We are here to help you with your concerns. You can post your questions briefly on the board and we'll try to see how best we can help you out! Please go through the youth website as well - some of your answers might be apparent! Wish you all good luck and hope to see you at Toronto!

Hello everyone big grin

My name is Napat, and I am another online mentor/moderator for this thread. I am 26 years old female from Thailand. I am now working for Save the Children UK on HIV/AIDS as well as on the tsunami response programme. I was the Youthforce coordinator during the last International AIDS Conference in Bangkok in 2004.

My experience at the 2004 AIDS conference was really memorable. I learned so much while making lots of friends at the same time. But the conference of such huge size can be really intimidating and overwhelming for a newcomer, especially in a foreign country. So we, the mentors, are here to help you prepare for the conference and maximize your experience in Toronto.

Regarding "Getting the most out of AIDS 2006", this section of the discussion board intend to help you prepare and plan for attending the conference. If you look at the conference programme (http://www.aids2006.org/PAG/ProgrammeAtAGlance.aspx), you will see that there are many sessions and activities going on. shocked Don't be intimidated by the size of the programme yet. You can take a look at it to get a glimp of what are some of the issues that will be presented, and what might interest you. It will take a bit of time to map out which session you want to attend. So first you can get familiarize with the main features of the conference (e.g. plenary, oral presentation, poster presentation, global village, etc). If you have any questions or want our advice, we are here to help you. wink

Hope to hear from you all, and see you at the conference.

Napat
