Stigma and discrimination is among the main factors contributing to the high prevalence rates across the world. With high numbers of people still being labeled and looked down due to their positive status it is not surprising that the youth are reluctant to disclose their status. many of the youth fear going HIV/AIDS tests because societies can not bring themselves to accept that being HIV positive is not a sign of promiscuity as it is the case in some African countries. Across the world we still hear reports about people who loss their jobs because of their HIV status. I for one can understand why some of the youth in my country-Botswana are so reluctant to test let alone disclose their status. I mean why go through all that just to be rejected by your own peers, your community and in worst cases even your family?
What do you think?
