Being mindful to the fact that individual views, morals, principles and beliefs are largely a product of their environment, trying to understand how a person’s viewpoint become a complex paradox. The world today is paired with a common adversary who has no respect for any particular background and it is apparent that as youth, activists and agents of change if we all work together for a common goal, we will be victorious. To be a powerful united force, we have to identify, appreciate, and to tolerate out diversity, be it in colour, ideology, economy, culture, philosophy, and that is where the whole complexity of the issue arises.
If a person from Malawi or Botswana comes from a place where heterosexual sex is main mechanism of the spread of HIV, how can they work with people from Canada where heterosexual sex is not the main mechanism for HIV transmission?
How do different people get to understand each other in order to achieve a common goal?
How can we break the barrier of being from a different culture?
How do people coming from a different society where certain practices are taboo understand the use of those practices in a different culture?
